the people inside the organization believe in it deeply enough to animate it.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Barrett, whose research on values-driven leadership has shaped organizations around the world, describes the soul of a business as the collective expression of an organization\u2019s deepest values and purpose.<\/p>\n<p>It is not the brand.<\/p>\n<p>It is not the strategy.<\/p>\n<p>It is the shared sense motivations.<\/p>\n<p>The ego is oriented toward survival.<\/p>\n<p>It seeks to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 stay safe<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 maintain control<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 protect status<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 be recognized<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 belong<\/p>\n<p>These needs are deeply human and often shape leadership behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The soul, however, moves in a different direction.<\/p>\n<p>It seeks to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 express creativity<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 connect meaningfully<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 contribute something valuable to the world<\/p>\n<p>When organizations are governed primarily by ego needs, leadership decisions tend to revolve around control, protection, and short-term outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>When the soul of the organization is allowed to lead, decisions begin to reflect purpose, contribution, and long-term impact.<\/p>\n<p>The healthiest organizations are those where the ego becomes mature enough to support the soul rather than suppress it.<\/p>\n<h3>A Question Worth Carrying<\/h3>\n<p>As a leader, you might pause and ask:<\/p>\n<p>What is the soul of the organization I am helping to build?<\/p>\n<p>And just as importantly:<\/p>\n<p>How am I personally contributing to it?<\/p>\n<p>Because the soul of a business is not created through slogans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is shaped through the daily decisions of leaders.<\/p>\n<h3>Coming
